Williston Parks & Recreation is thrilled to share the initial designs for a new Ice and Sports Facility coming to Williston. Long envisioned by residents, this facility has grown from a community desire into a critical need, driven by increasing program participation and a rising population.

The project is now a formal partnership between the City of Williston, Williams County, and Williston Parks & Recreation, championed by a dedicated group of community members known as the Williston Energy Center Group.

Planned for Williston Square, the facility will creatively incorporate the existing airport hangar into its design. While still in the early stages, the project aims to deliver a modern, inclusive venue featuring both ice and indoor turf spaces. This facility will expand year-round recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and abilities.

Rink Experience

The facility will feature three sheets of ice, designed to meet the growing needs of our community. Modeled after the ICON Sports Center in Grand Forks, ND, the layout will be modern and efficient.

Current plans include:

• Seating for 400–600 spectators per rink
• Thoughtful design to accommodate athletes, families, and fans
• Ample parking for tournaments and events
• Designated drop-off and pick-up areas for safe and efficient access

Community input will remain central as the project develops, ensuring the facility reflects the priorities and needs of Williston residents.

Versatile Turf Space

Recognizing the demand for more indoor turf space, the facility will include a dedicated turf area to support athletic programming. This space will complement the existing ARC turf, providing a family-friendly, park-like environment for year-round recreation.
