Department: Williston Parks & Recreation
Status: Exempt
Benefits: Standard District Benefits are provided
Starting Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000 - Adjustments are determined annually by the Executive Director
Supervisor: Facilities Maintenance Manager

Essential Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the Williston Area Recreation Center (ARC), Williston Water World, and other WPRD facilities as needed.

Job Duties/Tasks:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for all patrons and staff
  • Perform routine cleaning of assigned areas, including floors, restrooms, locker rooms, offices, and common spaces
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and disinfect surfaces according to established standards
  • Clean and restock restrooms and locker rooms with necessary supplies
  • Set up and clean up areas for meetings, classes, and events
  • Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly
  • Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums
  • Follow proper procedures for the safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Use ladders as needed for cleaning tasks (e.g., vents, windows, fixtures)
  • Lock and unlock assigned areas of the facility as scheduled
  • Identify and report cleaning or safety concerns to the supervisor
  • Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and other custodial needs
  • Use only approved chemicals and follow appropriate cleaning procedures for all WPRD facilities
  • Attend required safety trainings and meetings, including chemical safety and CPR/First Aid as required
  • Assist with inventory and stocking of cleaning supplies
  • Follow and enforce all Park District policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Perform other related custodial duties as assigned

Knowledge Required by Position:

  • Knowledge of basic cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
  • Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and custodial tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Effective communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilites:

  • N/A

Guidelines:

  • Include the Park District Policies and Procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed indoors at the Williston Area Recreation Center, seasonally at Williston Water World, and other WPRD facilities as needed, with occasional outdoor duties.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, dirt, and moderate noise levels
  • Use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, masks, goggles) may be required
  • Physical activities include standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching
  • Frequent lifting of supplies and equipment, typically up to 30 pounds

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to perform custodial and cleaning tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
  • Ability to follow directions and maintain attention to detail
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Current CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months
