Williston Municipal Golf Course Expansion Timeline

The Williston Parks & Recreation District (WPRD) is advancing the renovation and expansion of the Williston Municipal Golf Course through a collaborative, phased construction approach. The project is being delivered using the Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) method, which allows for early contractor involvement, cost control, and coordinated construction sequencing.

Duininck Golf is currently under contract as CMAR for horizontal golf course construction and is actively engaged in preconstruction services. Construction services for vertical facilities will be procured separately. WPRD will continue to utilize the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process to select qualified professional partners in accordance with North Dakota law.

The overall project carries an estimated construction budget of $18–22 million, with Norby Golf Course Design leading golf course planning and design. The expansion is supported by strong community backing, including 82% voter approval to renew WPRD’s 1% sales tax on June 10, 2025, reflecting broad support for reinvestment in this valued community asset.

Construction will begin in Spring 2026 in areas beyond the existing nine holes, allowing the course to remain operational through the 2026 summer season. The golf course is scheduled to officially close following Labor Day 2026 to allow for large-scale construction activities. The course will remain fully closed during the 2027 season to improve efficiency, reduce remobilization costs, and support coordinated delivery of both horizontal and vertical improvements.

The project is targeting a 2028 reopening of the Williston Municipal Golf Course as a fully renovated 18-hole facility. WPRD will continue to provide regular updates to the community as the project progresses.
