Alright… let’s talk expansion.
What’s coming?
Even if you have spent countless days out on the course, get ready because things are going to look completely different when we reopen. This is not just an upgrade. It is a full redesign.
Here is a quick look at what is coming:
- A fully redesigned 18 hole golf course experience
- Brand new on course restrooms
- A new clubhouse
- A new maintenance facility
- A newly designed parking lot
- Updated landscaping and improved course flow throughout the property
When everything is complete, golfers will experience a course that feels entirely new while still keeping the spirit of the course our community knows and loves.
What is the timeline?
- 2026 golf season - Vertical construction design and course construction services begin
- September 8, 2026 - Course closure and start of major construction
- 2027 - Full construction season
- Summer 2028 - Project completion and grand reopening
Who is leading the project?
- Owner: Williston Parks & Recreation District (WPRD)
- CMAR – Horizontal Construction: Duininck Golf
- Golf Course Architect: Norby Golf Course Design
- CMAR – Vertical Construction: TBA
- Architectural & Vertical Facility Design: Stone Group Architects
- Civil & Stormwater Engineer: Alliance Consulting

Will the project be done in phases?
No. Prior to the course closing on September 8, 2026, construction will already be taking place beyond the current nine holes. Once the course officially closes, crews will begin work on the remaining portions of the project.
By getting started early, we are able to complete a large amount of work while still giving golfers one extra season to enjoy the course. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, especially with the added construction activity and noise throughout the season.
Why will the project take so long?
Golf course construction is not just about building greens and fairways. One of the most important parts of the process is allowing the turf and vegetation enough time to properly establish and mature.
While the course may look complete well before reopening, rushing the grow in process could create long term issues for the course. Taking the extra time now helps ensure a healthier, higher quality golf experience for years to come.
This timeline has been part of the plan from the very beginning, and experts will continue monitoring the progress every step of the way.
Will the course look finished before it opens?
Yes. In fact, by the fall of 2027 the course will look very close to complete. The biggest thing we have to wait on is the grass growing in properly.
While it may be tempting to open early, allowing the turf and vegetation enough time to establish is one of the most important parts of the entire project. Skipping that process would set the course up for long term issues, and we want to make sure everything is done the right way from the start.
What will open first?
The driving range and clubhouse are expected to open about a month before the golf course itself.
This will give the community a chance to explore the new space, purchase passes, and get excited for opening day. And yes, clubhouse renderings are coming soon, so stay tuned!
Will the driving range stay open during construction?
No. During construction, the course and driving range will not be usable by the public. We know that is disappointing, but safety is our top priority during this project.
The good news is you can still keep your swing sharp by checking out the golf simulator at the ARC!
Will there be food and beverage options in the new clubhouse?
Yes! We are very excited about the future clubhouse experience.
More details will be coming soon, but we can already say it will be a major improvement from what we currently offer and will create a much more welcoming space for golfers and guests alike.
Will the course still be named The Muni?
We do not know just yet.
We are currently working with the WPRD Foundation, and naming rights for the new course will be available for purchase. As more details become available, we will be sure to share updates with the community.
Will the course still be beginner friendly?
Yes. The new course is being designed with everyone in mind, from first time golfers to longtime players.
Our goal is to create a fun and enjoyable experience for all skill levels while still providing exciting new challenges throughout the course.
Will there still be league play and tournaments at the new course?
Yes! Leagues, tournaments, and other golf events will return once the new course reopens.
We are still finalizing what those opportunities will look like, and more details will be released in the fall of 2027.
Will there be membership options?
Absolutely. Membership options will be very similar to what is currently offered, although pricing has not yet been finalized.
More information on memberships, passes, and packages will be shared as we get closer to reopening, so keep an eye out for future updates.
Will rates increase after reopening?
Pricing has not yet been finalized, but our goal is to continue providing an affordable and enjoyable golf experience for our community.
Can I still purchase gift cards or passes during construction?
Absolutely. WPRD gift cards will still be available for purchase and will make the perfect gift for when the new course opens.
Additional information on passes and memberships will also be shared as reopening gets closer.
Can I see renderings or construction updates?
Yes! We will continue posting renderings, updates, and construction progress on the Capital Projects page as they become available.
There will definitely be plenty of exciting sneak peeks to come!
