What is Ballin' in the Basin?

Ballin' in the Basin is Williston Parks and Recreation's semi-annual Youth Basketball Tournament. Starting in 2018 and 2019, 181 3rd-8th grade Boys & Girls basketball teams traveled from as far as Minnesota, Canada, Montana, and various parts of North Dakota to participate in this tournament. In 2019, it was awarded the ‘Event of the Year’ by the Williston Community Visitors Bureau (CVB) and continues to establish itself as a staple in upper Midwest Travel Basketball. Our last tournament was held on April 1 and 2nd 2023 and we hosted 100 teams, resulting in over 14,000 visits to our facilities in the two-day span. Because of the popularity of this event, we are expecting even more this year.

Due to its success and demonstrated growth, in the past Ballin' in he Basin has been deemed an official qualifier Heartland States Basketball Championship. All teams finishing 1st or 2nd in each division will qualify for the States Championship to battle top teams from throughout the Heartland Region.
