Williston Park Recreation is proud to announce the addition of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Program r.25. This program teaches teens ages 11–16 how to care for children and infants safely and confidently. Through hands-on activities and expert guidance, participants gain essential childcare skills and earn certifications that last for years.

Why Join?

The Babysitter’s Training Program gives teens the knowledge, skills, and confidence to care safely and responsibly for children and infants. Participants will learn essential childcare techniques such as feeding, diapering, and bedtime routines, while also developing leadership and decision-making skills to handle any situation on the job. The program teaches how to stay safe, respond to emergencies, and includes hands-on training with a first aid kit that students will build and learn to use. With instruction in basic first aid and pediatric CPR, teens gain the practical skills and certification needed to become capable and prepared babysitters.

Program Highlights

This program combines modern, youth-friendly content with interactive and hands-on learning. Students will engage in practical exercises, including feeding, diapering, and responding to common emergencies, while following step-by-step guidance in a fun and engaging format. Materials and lessons are designed to keep participants active and involved, with access to the Child Care Mobile App for easy reference during and after training. Upon completion, participants receive certifications valid for 10 years for babysitting and 2 years for pediatric CPR, giving teens both confidence and recognition for their skills.

What to Bring

Participants should come ready to learn and have a great day! Bring a smile and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Lunch will be provided, and all other materials, including hands-on activity supplies and your first aid kit, will be provided during the program.
