Growing Girls Basketball in Williston!

The Williston Basin Basketball Club is excited to explore new opportunities for 2nd grade girls basketball in our community!

Our goal is simple: Get more girls into the gym, playing basketball, building friendships, and most importantly, having FUN!

Similar to Sandlot baseball, we want to create a fun, welcoming environment where girls of all skill levels can come together, learn the game, and enjoy playing basketball. Whether your daughter has been playing for years or is just picking up a basketball for the first time, we want her to feel welcome!

We are working toward building an in-house 2nd grade girls basketball league that focuses on participation, skill development, and having fun, while also providing optional opportunities to participate in travel basketball tournaments.

What We Are Planning

Tryouts | October 29-30: We will hold tryouts for all interested 2nd grade girls, but we want to be very clear that NO girls will be cut! Tryouts will simply help us evaluate skill levels and organize balanced teams.

Balanced Teams: Teams will consist of girls with a mixture of skill levels and abilities. We want the girls learning from each other, building friendships, and growing together.

In-House League: Our primary focus will be getting girls into the gym for regular practices and games right here in Williston, without the pressure of traveling every weekend.

Local Tournament Opportunities: We hope to participate in our two local Ballin' in the Basin tournaments:

• December 12–13, 2026
• April 10–11, 2027

Additional Tournaments: Depending on interest, we may explore additional tournaments between December and April for families who would like those opportunities.

We understand that families have different schedules, commitments, and expectations. Our goal is to create a program that offers opportunities for everyone, whether your daughter simply wants to play basketball locally or is interested in exploring tournament opportunities.

We believe we have a great opportunity to build something special for these girls!

At this age, success is not measured by wins and losses. It is measured by how much the girls improve, the confidence they gain, the friendships they build, and whether they are excited to come back to the gym.

We want to develop basketball players, but more importantly, we want to build a program where every girl feels welcome, encouraged, and part of a team.

Basketball should be FUN, and that is exactly what we want this program to be!

We would love to get as many 2nd grade girls involved as possible! Whether your daughter currently participates in basketball or has never played before, everyone is welcome, and no previous basketball experience is necessary.

We are still working through some of the details, and much of what we do will depend on participation and family interest. We will continue sharing updates as plans develop.
