7th Annual Bakken Xtrek    September 17, 2022

Williston decided what our community needed was something unique, homegrown--and hopefully a lot of fun! Something that you could only do in Williston because the obstacles and terrain involved ARE Williston. To do that, we brought in the experts from Extreme North Dakota Racing (ENDracing) in Grand Forks who are well known for this kind of thing, and the Bakken X Trek was hatched. We hope you enjoy the race. Here are a few reasons why:

  • It’s all about the race. The Bakken XTrek committee and Williston Parks staff have put a lot of time and effort into the course. It is going to be tough and we want to push you out of your comfort zone. But this race is also about getting prepared for challenges and taking a helping hand if you need it.

  • We aren’t in it for the moola.  We hope this race is a smashing success, but we aren’t looking to take your money and run. The price is built around what we have to put into the race and proceeds will go back to the Williston Parks District and their amazing programs that benefit the whole community.

  • Smart starts.  Start waves will be every 15-30 minutes rather than right on top of each other, with limited wave sizes to avoid bottlenecks at obstacles. You might have to wait behind a few people, but not a crowd like you might experience at some events.  Waves will be added as necessary to let as many in on the fun as possible.

  • You'll be treated to a truly unique Williston event. Veteran terrain runners will see some standard obstacles, but we have built this course specifically for our venue: Spring Lake Park in Williston, ND.  You’re gonna get wet and you’re gonna get dirty. You will probably also smell a little funny but you'll be right in the middle of one of Williston’s most popular parks where everyone in town can catch the fun.  Awesome.

  • You can help us build this event. We aren’t aiming to produce a one-hit wonder. We want you to race the XTrek and then give us your feedback so we can improve and create an even better experience next year. This race is uniquely Williston, so let’s make it ours.
